China keen to invest in power, energy among 3 sectors : B’desh min

Dhaka: Bangladesh Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said China is keen to invest in three sectors including power and energy.

They will take decision in this regard through discussion with businessmen of Bangladesh.

He told this to the reporters after a meeting with Chinese delegation on the first day of three-day ‘Bangladesh Business Summit 2023’ holding at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) on Saturday. FBCCI is organising the business summit.

Commerce Minister said,” China is one of the biggest exporters to Bangladesh. They say they are interested in more investment in Bangladesh. We responded that everything is open for you. You come and observe. There are many items here. You can invest where you find better.

Tipu Munshi said we have been importing things from China for the last 40 years. Now China can invest in Bangladesh. We also urge them for this. They express their interest in investing power, energy, Agro and E-Commerce sectors. They said they came with businessmen. They will discuss with Bangladeshi businessmen, then they will take decision in this regard.

Mentionable, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Business Summit on Saturday. Businessmen and experts of locals and abroad have been holding meetings and seminars since the opening. The summit will continue until March 13.
