Srinagar: General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Baramulla based 19-Infantry Division Major General Ajay Chandpuria on Friday said with the situation getting better youth were getting more opportunities in Kashmir valley.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the event ‘Indian Army’s initiative to encourage young talent of the valley for winter games 2023’ at Gulmarg today, Major Gen Chandpuria said that youth were getting more and more opportunities with improvement in situation.
He said 275 youth were registered for the event and out of that 105 students including 28 girls participated in the different snow sports events at Gulmarg.
Most of the youth participated for the first time in the event with keenness and enthusiasm that indicates the potential among the Kashmir youth, Major Gen Chandpuria said.
“I am hopeful that as the time goes we will have many more events of this kind in future also,” he said.
Major General said that as the situation gets better and better more and more opportunities are coming the way of the youth.
The event was an initiative to encourage young talent of Kashmir Valley in Winter Games and witnessed participation of boys and girls of different age categories from all over Kashmir.
Various ski events were conducted to include Slalom, Giant Slalom, one Km X- country and Snowboarding,

While interacting with the participants, he appreciated their spirit and vigour.
The GOC was very happy seeing the huge participation of students, especially of girls and assured his full support to the young talent in Kashmir.

He informed that this is first of its kind event, which has been organized by the Indian Army. He said that in future, more such events would be conducted.
