Son of slain head constable injured in south Kashmir attack

Srinagar: A civilian was injured in a suspected militant attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said.

Police blamed militants for the attack.

They said the militants shot at Asif Ganai, son of a late Police Head Constable Ali Mohammad Ganai, outside a mosque in Hasanpora area of Bijbehara Anantnag.

Head constable Ali Mohammad was shot dead by militants last year on January 30 near his residence in Hasanpora.

“Terrorists fired upon & injured one Asif Ganai son of Martyr Head Constable Ali Mohd Ganai, outside mosque in Hasanpora area of Bijbehara Anantnag. He was immediately shifted to hospital for treatment,” a police statement said.

Soon after the incident, the whole area was cordoned off to nab the attackers.
