UP: Three killed, 3 others injured in violent clash

Badaun: Three persons were killed, and three others were injured when two groups fired on each other over old enmity in Zarif Nagar area of Badaun district here in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, police sources said.

Police sources said that Mahipal Singh Yadav and Sitaram Yadav, both residents of Bhakta Nagla village were having an old enmity after Sitaram’s son Jagdish was shot dead during petty dispute on October 5, 2021. “The two sides had a dispute while people of Sitaram’s side attempted to cross the field of Mahipal. The dispute escalated and both sides opened fire on each other,” they said.

Police sources said that six persons of both sides were injured in the cross firing and were taken to the district hospital by the police. “Jai Prakash (18), Satyendra Yadav (20) of Mahipal Singh’s side and Resham Pal (30) from Sitaram’s side succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Satyaveer Singh, Hariom Yadav and Amar Singh, who sustained serious injuries, are being treated,” they said.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr OP Singh said that former village head Resham Pal Yadav and present village head Satyendra Pal Yadav were already having rivalry since Panchayat elections. “Farms of both the persons are adjacent to each other. On Wednesday afternoon both the sides had an altercation over some issue which led to firing,” he said.

He said that six persons, who were injured in the incident, were immediately taken to the district hospital by the police where three were declared dead by the doctors. “Remaining three injured are undergoing treatment. Four persons have been detained and are being quizzed. Further action will be taken after registering the FIR,” he said.
