Srinagar-Jammu national highway reopens after 2 days

Srinagar: The strategic Srinagar-Jammu national highway reopened after two days of closure due to shooting of stones and landslides at Banihal, officials said.

“After clearance of debris near Sherbibi stranded vehicles are being cleared”, aTraffic police tweet said this evening.

The Police also advised the drivers not to overtake and keep line discipline for smooth movement of traffic on the highway.

A huge landslide at the highway on Tuesday had blocked the road link connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country.

The authorities pressed into service men and machinery and cleared the debris from the road to make it traffic worth, they added.

Hundreds of vehicles including the trucks carrying essentials for the Kashmir valley are on the way to its destination.
