Dharamshala geared up to host India-Australia Test match

Dharamshala: All preparations have been made by the district administration regarding the India-Australia Test match to be held in the first week of March at the HPCA International Cricket stadium in this hill town of Dharàmshala.

Additional District Magistrate Rohit Rathore said in a meeting organised with the representatives of the Australian Embassy regarding the preparations for the match. The third match of the four-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy series between India and Australia is scheduled to be held at the beautiful cricket stadium in Dharamshala from March 1 to 5.

In a meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Additional District Magistrate Rohit Rathore apprised Australian Embassy representatives Terry Bakkany and Suzanne Joseph in detail about all the arrangements made by the administration regarding the match.
He informed that the departments concerned have made preparations for all the necessary arrangements including disaster management, security system, health facility, traffic system, fire fighting during the match.

He said the district administration is committed to provide smooth arrangements to the players of both the teams, their management staff and spectators on match days. He said 01892-229050, 229051, 229052 and toll free number 1077 can be contacted at any time on the control room set up 24×7 in the Deputy Commissioner’s office for diagnosis of any kind of inconvenience during the match.
He said apart from this, police help room would also be available 24 hours. He told that NDRF and SDRF teams will be ready every moment to deal with any disaster during the match. He informed that a mock drill will also be conducted by the administration after February 20 at the stadium to test the preparedness to deal with any kind of emergency and disaster during the match.
The representatives of the Australian Embassy expressed satisfaction with the preparations while appreciating the arrangements made by the administration. ASP Kangra Mayank Chowdhary, IAS Probationer Netra Meti, District Medical Officer Dr. Gurdarshan Gupta, Principal Tanda Medical College Dr. Bhanu Awasthi, SMO Zonal Hospital Dharamsala Dr. Rajesh Guleri, DSP SDRF Sunil Rana and HPCA representative Sameer Singh were present in the meeting.
