Drug peddlers arrested with cannabis, heroin in J&K’s Reasi

Jammu: Police have arrested three drug peddlers with contraband of cannabis (ganja) and heroin on Wednesday in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Police said that during routine checking and frisking at Zero Morh, Talwara, police party led by Inspector Vijay Sharma under the supervision of Iftkhar Ahmed, Dysp Headquarters apprehended two drug peddlers and recovered charas and heroin like substances from their possession.

Arrested drug peddlers are identified as Nazir Hussain of Bathindi, Jammu and Mohammad Nazir alias Bulli of Jedd, Reasi.

Meanwhile in a separate incident, police party while checking and frisking at Thapa Chowk apprehended one drug peddler Manik Sharma of Trintha, Reasi and recovered 1.5 gms of Heroin from his possession.

A case has been registered and investigation started.

Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi Amit Gupta conveyed that Reasi police is committed to eradicate the menace of drug abuse from the area.

On one hand punitive actions are being taken and peddlers are being arrested, on the other hand drug addicts are being counselled at de-addiction counselling centre at Reasi.

SSP further added that people from all sections of the society should come forward and join hands with Police to strengthen anti-narcotics drive of District Police which is must to save our future generations.
