Intense cold, dry weather conditions continue in Kashmir

Srinagar: There was no respite from intense cold conditions that prevailed in Kashmir valley even as night temperature showed a slight improvement on Tuesday.

Meteorological forecast of mainly dry weather over Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.

Gulmarg in north Kashmir remained the coldest place in Kashmir valley with minimum temperature recorded at minus 9.0 degree Celsius against the season’s lowest minus 10.0 recorded a day ago.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir had a low of minus 4.4 degree Celsius against minus 5.4 degree Celsius recorded the previous night. It was 2.3 degree Celsius below normal during this period of the season.

Tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 7.2 degree Celsius against minus 9.6 degree Celsius the previous night.

Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 5.0 degree Celsius while Kukernag had a low of minus 4.1 degree Celsius on Tuesday.

Kupwara recorded a low of minus 5.3 degree Celsius against minus 5.7 degree Celsius. It was 2.8 degrees below normal for this time of the season, MeT office said.
