Srinagar: Kashmir valley reels under unabated cold as mercury further plunges all across as Gulmarg and Pahalgam record seasons coldest night at -10.0 and -9.6 degree Celsius respectively on Monday.
Ski resort of Gulmarg in North Kashmir experienced the season’s coldest night on Monday with night temperature plunged to minus 10.0 degree Celsius against minus 8.2 degree Celsius the previous night.
Similarly the tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir was the second coldest place with the minimum temperature dipped to minus 9.6 degree Celsius against minus 9.4 degree Celsius on Sunday.
Meteorological forecast of currently hazy weather mainly to remain clear till January 6. Expect further “Fall” in Minimum temperature. There would be Warmer days & colder nights across J&K.
From January 8-10 there is a 70 per cent chance of snow fall/rain in plains of Jammu and at many places of J&K, the MeT office said.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir had a low of minus 5.4 degree Celsius against 0.5 degree Celsius recorded the previous night. It was below 3.3 degree Celsius during this period of the season.
Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 5.8 degree Celsius while Kukernag had a low of minus 4.6 degree Celsius on Monday.
Kupwara recorded a low of minus 5.7 degree Celsius against minus 4.5 degree Celsius. It was minus 3.2 degrees below normal for this time of the season, MeT office said.
