Pahalgam, Gulmarg coldest places in Kashmir   

Srinagar: Tourist destinations Pahalgam and Gulmarg remained the coldest places in the Kashmir Valley as the Meteorological Department forecast partly cloudy weather throughout Jammu and Kashmir during the next two days.

Thanks to a weak western disturbance, partly to mostly cloudy weather is expected in Jammu and Kashmir with possibility of light rain in some plains of the Kashmir Valley on Saturday. In the higher reaches, light to moderate snowfall is possible during the next 36 hours, independent weather observer Faizan Arif said.

Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 4.2 degree Celsius overnight, which was minus 3.0 degrees Celsius below normal during this period of the season. The maximum temperature was recorded at 12.5 degrees Celsius against 11.6 degrees Celsius, which was 0.9 degree Celsius above normal on Thursday, the MeT office said.

Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 3.0 degree Celsius the previous night. The maximum temperature was recorded as low as minus 2.2 degree Celsius below normal against the 6.0 degree Celsius in the Valley the previous day.

Srinagar had a low of 0.4 degree Celsius against the 1.2 degree Celsius, Qazigund in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 0.4 degree Celsius, Kukernag 0.6 degree Celsius and Kupwara recorded a low of minus 1.4 degree Celsius on Friday.
