Operation Octopus: 106 IEDs, more than 350 live cartridges recovered so far

Ranchi: As part of the Operation Octopus which has been launched at the Maoist’s stronghold on Budha Pahad located in the bordering areas of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh in Garhwa district police and para military personnel involved in the anti insurgency operations have recovered huge quantity of IEDs and ammunitions.
A release issued from the state police headquarters said that the operation was launched on September 4 comprising a joint team of CRPF Jharkhand Jaguar Cobra and police jawans from Palamu and Garhwa districts.
Budha Pahad is home to many of the dreaded Maoists who have often executed dreaded incidents against the jawans.
On the third day of the operation, the jawans had destroyed a Maoist bunker and seized all the items.
So far in this campaign police has recovered more than 106 IEDs including Cylinder bomb Pressure Cooker bomb etc, more than 350 live cartridges, 500 meters of codex wire, ammonium nitrate, hand pump cylinder, arrow bomb, unfinished barrel grenade launcher etc.
The statement further said that the jawans have surrounded the hills from all sides and are continuing their search operation despite difficult terrain and unfavourable climate.
