Jammu: As many as nine persons were killed and 30 injured in separate accidents across Jammu region on Tuesday.
As per police, eight passengers were killed and three injured when a cab they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in Boonda area of Chatroo in Kishtwar district.
Police said that the vehicle was on its way from Chatroo to Boonda.
The deceased were identified as Nusrata Banoo, Shareef, Fareed, Mohd Akbar, Fareed Hussain, Bashir Ahmed, Nazir and Noor Hussain.
However, the injured namely Manzoor Ahmed, Khatoon Begum and Akhter Hussain have been admitted to the District Hospital, Kishtwar.
In another accident, a child was killed and 16 persons suffered injuries when a passenger bus on the way from Katra towards Jammu hit another bus parked along the roadside.
The deceased child was identified as Shubam Kumar,5, resident of Agra.
Moreover, 11 persons including nine students got injured when an auto they were travelling in met with an accident near village Kah in Kathua district.
Police said that a passenger auto carrying school students on its way from Kah to Nagrota ,when reached near Panchayat Ghar Kah, the driver lost control and the vehicle slipped 20 feet off the road that resulted in injuries to 11 persons including nine students.
The injured were identified as Dheeraj Singh, Renu Devi, Vanshika Devi, Sandeep Kumar, Meena Devi, Kajal Verma, Taniya Devi, Divansh Thakur, Ashok Kumar, Indru Chand and Munish Thakur.
“Four injured have been referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Kathua,” Police said.
