Delhi court commits Jahangirpuri violence case to Sessions Court

New Delhi: A Delhi Court after hearing committed the Jahangirpuri violence case to Sessions court for further hearing on August 22.

The violence took place on April 16 this year during a procession on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti.

Police had registered the case under the relevant sections of the law.

After investigation, police filed a charge sheet against the accused on July 14 by naming 37 persons arrested, 8 absconded and two juveniles in the case.

Police submitted through charge sheet that the accused had planned in advance on April 10 to incite violence on April 16 on Hanuman Jayanti.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate took cognizance of the charge sheet on July 28.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Deepika Singh passed an order to sent the case file to District and Sessions Judge for committal and for further hearing.
