Police solves drone cases, arrests Pak handler

Jammu: The Jammu Zone Police on Monday said that the drone cases reported in the recent past along the international border in Samba, Kathua and Jammu districts have been solved and the Pak handlers have also been taken into custody.
The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh flanked by senior officers addressing a press conference here this evening said that the joint team of Jammu Police, Kathua Police and Special Operation Group, Jammu have solved Kathua Drone incidents in which one drone was recently shot down by alert troops on May 29, 2022 at Talli, Hariya Chak, Kathua which was loaded with payload including UBGL rounds, Sticky Bombs and other ammunition.
Another drone which was shot down at Manyari, Kathua on June 20 in 2020, is also carrying a huge payload including an M4 rifle and other explosive material.
Joint team during initial investigation apprehended many suspects on the basis of technical analysis, police team subsequently zeroed in on one person namely Habib of Hariye Chak, Kathua, he said.
Singh added that during questioning he admitted his role as receiver of multiple consignments of Arms and Ammunitions dropped via drones controlled through Pakistan and also that he is part of illegal terror-associates network.
He was further motivated by one Faisal Muneer of Talab Khatikan, Jammu and is working on his directions, said the top cop adding, “the consignments received by Habib were further carried to Jammu by him and delivered to different persons at different locations on directions of Faisal.”
Upon this Faisal Munir was also picked and questioned thoroughly after which he accepted his link with Pak based Handlers and his involvement in this terror nexus, he said.
Singh said that Faisal disclosed that he was in touch with Pak based Handlers for more than two and half years and has received more than 15 drone dropped consignments dropped at multiple locations at Samba and Kathua.
These consignments were further delivered by him at different locations at Jammu and also in Kashmir Valley on directions of his Pak Handler.
On the disclosure of Faisal the recoveries made were two AK 46 rifles, three AK magazines, 60 AK rounds, five Pistols, 15 Pistol magazines, seven Pistol rounds, two Pistol silencers, eight Grenades, Weighing machine and weapon cleaning accessories.
“One more accused namely Miayan Sohail of Kathua also detailed in the case and involvement of more persons in this network is suspected and investigation is going on,” he added.
