President Kovind urges citizens to respect docs

Bhopal: Underlining the crucial role played by doctors and other health professionals in battling the novel coronavirus pandemic, President Ram Nath Kovind issued a clarion call on Saturday that misbehaviour ought not to be meted out to members of that segment.
Addressing a programme in the Madhya Pradesh capital, the First Citizen said, “The country confronted – with steely resolve – the challenge posed by the contagion. During the period, the medical fraternity provided services on an unprecedented scale. Whenever any individual takes ill, the Almighty initially comes to mind and then the physician becomes synonymous with God. We should remember that the person who endeavours to cure us is also, after all, a human being prone to occasional errors. Therefore, patients and their attendants must exercise patience. Numerous practitioners are providing wonderful service in rural areas and one of them is Padma Shri-recipient Leela Joshi of Ratlam who toils in slums and amidst tribal folk.”
Mr Kovind performed bhumi pujan for eight urban health services and dedicated four to the people. Governor Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan were among the dignitaries who graced the occasion.
